30th June 2010 – 50 & Not OutJune saw our 50th Jobseeker gain employment. Sarah Jepson from Wigan has landed herself a job at her local Harvester this week to much celebration from all her family. She said "It was fair to say that I have struggled to focus on Jobseeking in the past. When I came to step 2 with the International Learning Centre they were really helpful and listened to me, it’s not to say that my time with them wasn’t trouble free but I was always made to feel welcome". “There was an opportunity on the internet for a waitress job and the staff at ILC all believed it was the perfect job for me. They didn’t waste any time in driving my CV over to the employer and trying to arrange an interview. This worked and they got me an interview date. Jayda prepared me for the interview and Bryn took me to make sure I was on time. The interview went well and they gave me a work trial. Again the staff at ILC prepared me and even tested me on the menu! The trial went really well and I got the job. I couldn’t have done it without ILC.” Sam Ozdemir, Atherleigh Harvester stated “This is the first time that we have ever done anything like this. I liked Sarah and she has a really good personality. I knew that she just needed a chance, so we arranged a day’s work trial. Sarah proved herself, and was offered the position and we think this has worked really well so would be happy to work with the International Learning Centre in future.” 30th June 2010 - ILC is accredited by UK OnlineThis week the International Learning Centre was approved to deliver services on behalf of UK Online across our network of offices in Greater Manchester. Services can be delivered to all members of the public, especially those that require entry to IT, and include Online basics plus courses around Social Networking, online Purchasing and even courses so you can brush up on your Photography skills. Scott Parkin, FND Manager, stated: “These courses will add to our already impressive range of services. The great thing about UK Online is that each individual Learner can study at their own pace and there are courses to suit all. We hope that Learners will progress from these courses to undertake Level 2 qualifications through the Learndirect provision across the region and we expect that this will be a useful addition to our current FND delivery.” 26th June 2010 - Rochdale make the MoveThe Rochdale FND team moved into their new premises this week and we are already seeing improved results. In partnership with the Kashmir Youth Project, the International Learning Centre now has a presence in their state of the art Unique Enterprise Centre. Frank Mirza, Operations Manager, KYP said: "It is really good to get ILC into the building, it will make the transition from Step 2 to Step 3 even more seamless & will provide a great learning environment for all those Jobseekers on FND".
